Who is Karen?

I’m a marketing and communications professional with a strong foundation in arts, culture, and nonprofit storytelling. My work centres on using digital platforms to amplify artists, strengthen community connection, and communicate impact in ways that feel thoughtful, inclusive, and culturally relevant.

Currently, I work at the Canadian Music Centre, where I lead digital marketing and communications initiatives for national programs and events. My role spans content strategy, social media, newsletters, website management, and media outreach, with a focus on growing audience engagement and ensuring communications align with organizational values. I’m especially experienced in translating complex or nuanced artistic work into accessible, compelling stories for diverse audiences.

With an academic background in Professional Communication and Communication Design, I bring both strategic thinking and visual sensibility to my work. I enjoy collaborating across teams, managing multiple projects, and using data and community insight to inform creative decisions. Whether I’m developing campaign messaging, designing promotional materials, or capturing and organizing digital assets, I approach each project with care, curiosity, and attention to detail.

I’m particularly drawn to mission-led arts organizations and culturally grounded storytelling. I’m motivated by work that builds meaningful relationships with communities, and treats communications as a tool for connection rather than promotion alone. I’m always eager to learn, experiment, and contribute to spaces where creativity, equity, and impact are at the centre.
